argh update

ugh!
picking my truck up was such a process!

so jeremy has my debit card (didn't give it back to me when we ordered lunch today)
so my sis was like, "we'll just use mine"
but then it said, "denied. you have used too much money today"
or something simliar
and she was all, "do you have your check book?"
"no. you?"
"no."
so mad dash home to look for check books - after making the little d00d promise he'd wait for us to get back before he closed up
she found her checkbook first...
finally got that paid for and stuff... apparently they replaced the fuel pump with the same exact model...
don't remember spending $400 last time I did that, but that doesn't mean I didn't.
/me shrug

argh!

so I dunno if I mentioned it, but my 'service engine soon' light came on last week.
I told my dad and he said he'd take care of it.
then he decided to go to the valley to see my sis while he still can.
before he left I asked him if he wanted me to take my truck to a mechanic... he said he'd take care of it when he got back.

last night, adrian and I were on our way to somewhere for dinner....
and I decided to stop at the post office and check the mail.
guess what happened.
yes, my truck left us stranded at the post office.
adrian didn't have his phone & the battery on my phone was dead...
so we walked to autozone (it's right next door) and called the jesus fan for help.
he came by and tried to boost it (for the record, I was unconvinced the problem had anything to do with the battery), recommended I replace the battery, then gave us a ride to adrian's house.

I'm sure you can imagine how much fun I had.
I'm more of a laugh-'cause-there's-nothing-else-I-can-do person, while adrian's more of a super-peeved-'cause-there's-nothing-else-I-can-do person.
we make an interesting combination.

so it's been towed to a shop and should be ready sometime this afternoon.
for a whopping $700, too.
so much for getting an xbox

the first glimmer of night

so. final fantasy. surprisingly addictive.
and fantastic.

I've been playing ff7 in all my spare time.
I slept ~ 4 hours every day this weekend, the rest of the time either spent with adrian or playing ff7, or both.
I didn't even consider painting my bathroom - instead I spent at least 10 hours a day playing.

thanksgiving food turned out surprisingly well - what I ate, anyway.
I like to have stuffing that's been cooked w/ gravy and bits of shredded turkey.
mmmmmm
had a few monstrous plates of that then began bitching about my skin being too tight.

I made a commitment and purchased some crap to give adrian for christmas.
at least that's done... only now that I'm not so excited about it I'm not entirely sure he'll like it.

early happy thanksgiving

I have one of those jobs where we don't work on holidays, so I'll be at home in bed or something instead of posting a thanksgiving card like I usually do.

so here's a c&v from the toothpaste for dinner newsletter, 'cause I love drew.

-----
OKAY, now that that is out of the way, IT IS ALMOST THANKSGIVING AND
CHRISTMAS. listen up here, you do not want to be going out to the store
on "black friday". that is the worst idea i have ever heard. i do not
think much of wal-mart as it is, but READERS OF MY NOTIFYLIST, PLEASE
DO NOT DIE BY GETTING TRAMPLED AT WAL-MART. the bargains are not worth
the terror. if you die at wal-mart, at your funeral, they will be
lowering your casket down into the grave, and with every creak of the
winch, your mourners will see the wal-mart prices rolling back in their
minds and they'll think, "man this funeral sucks. i wish i had a
twenty-dollar dvd player to help me grieve." and they'll go to wal-mart
and get trampled too.

LISTEN TO ME HERE!! DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY TO A DISCOUNT-PRICED
GRAVE!!! be reasonable. shop online. nobody i know is getting anything
that does not come from amazon or another website. that is just the way
it is going to be. don't be the fool standing at the "things engraved"
booth on christmas eve getting some kind of clock with someone's name
on it! be the kind of person to do all their christmas shopping from
their computer at work. they don't pay you enough for holidays, or give
you enough vacation, so spend a little "on the clock" time doing some
"online shopping". if you have a large family, stay late. it's
overtime, dude. time and a half.

expensive items my ass

so adrian beat both ogres (the end boss of the devil within) in about 15 minutes.
I spent at least half an hour getting owned by ogre.
adrian beat him on his 4th try.
on one hand I was stoked 'cause we'd finally beaten the devil within...
on the other hand I was peeved 'cause it just goes to show how much I suck ass at action/adventure games.
seriously - my jumping skills (while they have vastly improved since I began playing) still suck.
so that's that.
now I've gotta go through and collect "evil symbols" to trade for costly items in the customization shop. only I don't get to choose what I trade for.
and the "evil symbols" are just an red image of that tatoo jin has on his arm.
I think I'll call them "sexy symbols" instead.

so there's this one room on level 3... the sexy symbol is up in the corner much too high to reach with a mere double jump.
and there's a couple of hover carts (you can move 'em around the room for about 10 seconds before they go back to where you found 'em)... hafta push the cart to the other end of the room... double jump onto this ledge... then jump onto this stone that falls right after you touch it... double jump from there back around a pillar to some more falling stones... run across those & double jump into a corner to grab the sexy symbol.
did I mention my jumping skills suck?
I tried for about... an hour, I'd say... I didn't get to the second set of falling stones but 3 times, and when I did get that far I didn't jump out close enough to the sexy symbol to grab it.
ugh!
and that particular sexy symbol is that one that trades in for kazuya's wings!
the only reason I'm replaying the game is for free wings!
UGH!

so yes.
still no ps1 memory card, so for now all I'll be doing is playing (and by playing I mean bitching about) the devil within in tekken 5 and weapons master in soul calibur 2.
as soon as I get that card in the mail I'm ripping open ff7...
and probably running through tekken 3 again since I'll finally be able to save.

marshmallow genie

I spent the weekend in bed, for the most part.
I went home sick on friday afternoon... got in bed...
adrian came by for a bit & I fought with him (unrelated to my mood; I just misunderstood something he did).... went back to sleep when he left...
he came by saturday afternoon to take me to see walk the line (I liked it) and we took my sis too, since she'd be wanting to see it. after the movie we took her to best buy to get xmen 2, then to sam's to meet up with our friend marleen.
at sam's I bought an obscene amt of toilet paper (I have this fear that one day I may be entertaining 12 or so guests who've all come down with a case of exploding diarrhea and that I'll need 36 rolls of toilet tissue at once or else) and some throw away cups.
then we went back to home and I got back into bed... watched a bit of ds9 and also the anime tekken I rented from netflix. now let me tell you, the avg rating of it wasn't bad - 3 and a half stars (out of 5), but omg this movie! you'd hafta ~really~ like tekken to give it more than 3, imo.

yesterday I finally broke down and went to see adrian's new place. he and one of the other guys we work with are renting a house together... have been for the last couple of months...
so I went out there... laid in bed while I watched adrian play his game... when adrian fell asleep I went out into the living room & chatted with chris (the guy he's living with) and devin (another guy we work with) for a few... watched them play vg football...
then I went home and got back into bed... tried to finish the devil within (in tekken) but I still can't.
/me sigh
plus adrian & I still haven't finished weapons master in soul cal 2.
/me bigger sigh
oh well. at least I'm not sick anymore.

walter's world of pets

I'm not sure why I failed to mention this earlier, but my sis and I made it out to walter's world this morning.
all I bought was food for taki & hwoarang, but I had a great time while I was there!
you know how much of an ordeal my sis makes everything - she had the little store guy walk us through "the jungle" and spew bits of info I'd have never known otherwise.

highlights:
  • I got to hold a lemur (flashback to zoboomafoo)
  • made faces with a monkey-type thing called a marmoset (he was sticking his tongue out at me)
  • this other type monkey offered to trade me his food for my bag of hamster food (brought it up & placed it on the windowsill while eyeing my bag)
  • I poked a scorpion (I decided agst holding it myself)
  • had a parrot hold my finger w/ it's beak (and I could lift it up and stuff)
  • I held some sort of boa... it was an albino, I remember that (that baby grows up to eat little thai men)
  • I foiled a ground squirrel's attempt to escape (he was busting outta his cage)
  • played just a little bit with the ferrets (they're babies and very frisky)
  • ~and~ the little worker guy went in & taunted the 15 foot cobra so we could see him riled up (that guy is my hero!)

seriously, it was great.

fuh-keen russian

so I finally did make it out to buy a jacket... ended up with one with no hoodie.
I bought a hat, though - I'm quite proud of it.
it's a bomber's hat, and I like it plenty.
I also got some gloves. they're big and bulky and making it ~very~ hard for me to type.

my sis and I stayed up last night watching spooky movies... we watched 2 urban legends movies and the gift. one of the urban legends movies, bloody mary, had this one scene with a load of spiders, so I'm sure adrian'll be quite glad that I sent it back already.

after the movies my sis went to bed, but I stayed up a couple more hours reading.
I was still on a bend wanting to know more about our lady of guadalupe (I was looking at a book about converting the aztecs to catholicism while at work yesterday) so I decided to finally open that bible I bought a few months ago.
I didn't get too far; I read about 20 pages worth of the reading guide... got to the beginning of the explanations for the books and such....
I'll probably read more tonight, but since it was 04 when I opened the book I was mostly tired already.

my sis has decided she's going to cook for thansgiving.
we're all a bit... concerned.
(she usually has it catered 'cause she's uh.... not exactly known for her cooking skills)
she had the sense of mind to at least start practicing, so she made cornbread and something else last night.
she's crazy, ya'll.

so yes... let's cross our fingers.
I also ordered a strategy guide for ff7, that I'll use as soon as I get a memory card so I can save!
speaking of strategy guides... I've ~got~ to get a guide for soul cal 2. or a walkthrough.

I put my hamsters in the kitchen this afternoon before I came to work, since I don't get home 'till 21 tonight, and by then it'd be plenty cold in my bedroom.

I've been looking for the instructional video that supposedly (at some point) accompanied the ever-popular ab slide.
I've had no luck, though.
I've also been going through jackets at oldnavy.com, but I've not found anything worth mentioning.
think I'm gonna try to talk my sis into going to the mall with me in the morning... it's cold.

then we went out for thai food (yum!) and then....
home, I think.
fought a bit with adrian, then took a nap.
woke up again ~ 22... called adrian & he came over... watched zoolander again.
I really do like zoolander... it's a fun movie.
up there with spice world, imo.

I played some soul cal 2 last night, since I've still got no copy of soul cal 3.
I've yet to unlock lizard man and assassin.

it's the closest thing lubbock has to a zoo.

this is walter:

Walter is a Malaysian water monitor. He is currently 7 feet 8 inches and weighs 90 pounds. Walter is our flagship lizard, he was hatched in 1992 and fed incredible amounts of food to get him to his current size. He is also the inspiration for our store. Feeding times are every saturday at 5:00 pm.

my sister, it seems, "accidently" bought a set of new couches this morning.
at least I'm not the only one in the family with a bad habit of making [costly] impulse purchases.

I feel loads better today - well, my throat does.
I'm still all gimpy and having to hobble around... I'm still not sure what's going on.

half of my space seed order from amazon came in... the books arrived, but not the epsiode.
they got here yesterday, and I've just now finished memoirs of a geisha.
it is quite good, but seems it's nothing more than "based on" someone's life, instead of truly representing the life of a geisha.
so I'd really like to read geisha: a life now, as it's written by the woman who is the main character in memiors...
dunno why every time I read a book it ends with me just adding another to my wishlist.

work today has been... a frenzy.
and I've spent at least an hour on the phone with one man who, for whatever reason, insisted on opening adobe when I asked him to load outlook express.
multiple times.
I'm still not sure why, since 'outlook express' sounds nothing like 'adobe' at all.
/me sigh

at least I'm getting off work early tonight.
I'm working on saturday and we're not allowed any overtime so I'm shaving a few hours off my shift tonight and on friday.
I've still not unpacked a single thing (well, aside from some of my star trek stuff), so I'd like to take advantage of this evening to at least get started.

my sleep schedule is a complete mess. I stayed up all night monday watching episodes of ds9, but last night I was asleep by 21. and I stayed asleep 'till ~ 1030 this morning.
I dunno.... I don't really care anymore if I sleep or stay up all night... just as long as I stick with it and not hafta completely change the schedule every few days (like when I was working evenings & saturday mornings).

last night my dad made tripas (pig intestines) for me.
I was all stoked 'cause I absolutely love 'em, and I even shared a taco w/ adrian.
unfortunately, I didn't get to have but 2 tacos (adrian only had one, so I guess I shouldn't bitch), but hopefully next time he'll make more.

there's a tekken 5:dr machine at an arcade near chicago.
the d00d from house of flying daggers has supposedly been cast as jin for the new tekken movie.
I've found a tekken statue that I'm thinking about bidding on - it's jin beating true ogre.
talked to muh buddy r00 today - he is doing well and it was great to hear from him.
there's going to be another resident evil movie... and another saw movie too.

I'm all moved in but decidedly unpacked.
adrian and I moved boxes around so we could see the tv from the couch... put on a bit of the amityville horror but I couldn't watch it (fucking spooky kids), so we put on eddie izzard's definite article.
mostly I spent all weekend sleeping ('cause I didn't really rebound from the moving-marathon) but I'm hoping to get at least a little bit settled in tonight.

we were supposed to go to home depot last night to buy a fridge, but I got off work later than I'd intended. so we went to hastings instead.

I drug my sis out to home depot with me this morning... we didn't find what I was looking for, though.
