Hi!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to give you a bit of my Civil War Medical knowledge:

After an amputation, it was standard procedure, if the patient did not revive by conventional methods, to pour a small amount of chlorofom on his testicles to rouse him.

Chloroform, by the way, was a coolant on the skin. It was also used to put people to sleep. ;)

Someone grab my head, before it hits the keyboard.....or at least put a pillow on it, cuz I SO don't want "QWERTY" on my forehead. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Anyone seen Harry Potter? Remember that d00d with the black hair that came down to... like his chin or something? He was the one that was whispering that sort of protection spell when Harry was trying to get squished during that game...
Just wondering if anyone else remembers that happening... 'cause I'm almost certain that he was a good guy and all. Right?

Hey now.... I'm planning on learning to cook. In fact, I'm going to add it as one of my goals.
Tina's Goals for this Semester
1. Stay off probation
  a) stay awake in class
  b) take notes
  c) give baths
  d) study
2. Don't smoke
3. Aim for >2 months
4. Learn to cook

**I've just spent the last hour figuring out how to make those a, b, & c indented. Kudos to me, huh.**

Yeah you sure were loving your wine. Great stories you told over dinner. I would've liked going out, but snuggling by the fire indoors was nice as well. I'll give you a call tonight, maybe we can set something up.

::: posted by Cronos at 5:27 PM :::

Well I thought it was time to make a serious post since I neglected to make one last night. Oh - the funniest thing happened today.
We're doing our medication administration lab at school right now. It's called the PCCL - Pharmacy Critical Competanct Lab - and we have to do it 100% correct or we fail. Well, not fail, excactly. If you do it perfect the first time you get a 100; if you screw up the first time but do it perfect the second time you get an 85; if you screw up the first two times but get it right the third time you get a 77, and if you screw it up all three times then you fail the lab ,', you fail the class ,', you fail out of nursing school - which is crazy bad, btw.
There are 2 parts to the lab, the PO (oral meds) part and the SC (sub-q injections) part. You have to pass the PO part before you can go on to the SC part. And both halves count as one, so if you pass the PO part and then fail the SC part you get knocked down to the next grade (assuming you pass the SC part the next time). So it's kinda tense around school right now.
Anyhow... I had to do my lab this morning. By the grace of God I managed to complete the PO portion correctly so I got to go on to the SC part of the lab. The SC part of the lab consists of 3 parts - 1 insulin question, 1 heparin question, and then drawing up 1 combo of insulin.
I drew a heparin question first - Do you aspirate? The answer's no, and I got that right. So far so good. Then I drew my insulin question - What is the action of regular insulin? Now I stood there and didn't have a clue what the question was asking. You know how you wig out if the question's too easy? Well I was standing there thinking "this is some backwater community college" but at the same time "that's still too easy." So I tried to ask my instructor what she was looking for and she said that she can't answer any questions. I tried to find out if they were looking for pharmodynamics or pharmokinetics or what, but all she kept saying was that she couldn't answer any questions. So I was standing there thinking and all and I just couldn't figure out what they wanted. So I kinda shrug **irl, mind you** and just say "helps metabolize glucose." And now guess what she said.
*giggling*
"That's true, but that's not what I'm looking for. YOU FAILED."
Thought that was some poetic justice.
*sigh*
No worries, though. I passed it the second time around... for a grand total of 85.
*shrug*

::: posted by tinafish at 5:17 PM :::

lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the meal, hun. What with all the snow and all it was a shame we couldn't have gone out. I don't recall any massage, though. I must've had too much wine. *sigh* And I'm almost certain that was a night I'd like to remember.

Well I'm off to work on my case study but just am not motivated yet. *sigh* I need to become a better student.
I was reading this kid's blog earlier.... just some random kid. It was pretty funny. Very opinionated kid. Very bad grammar and spelling. I felt like such a prude. While I was sitting here reading his posts I kept catching misspelled words and incorrect verb usage. I really need to write a paper or something...
I was thinking back to how my day went. We got yelled at by this nurse 'cause we caught an IV infiltrating in one of her patients. She was crazy peeved 'cause we're not allowed to screw with anything to do with IVs so we couldn't turn it off. Thing is, she's just an LVN, so most likely she's been through what we're going through right now. She was like "The nurse is right here telling you what to do" and then something along the lines of "get out." It was rather interesting, 'cause up 'till now I hadn't been exposed to anyone being hateful over our IV restrictions. *shrug* I thought she should've been a little more responsive, since we did catch something like that.

Well someone's gone and made the comment that since Joe and I will be living together we won't be able to avoid sleeping together. I beg to differ. See.... how would you feel about having sex with your brother or, depending on your sex, your sister? Pretty gross, huh. Well - that's exactly how it'd be if Joe and I started boinking. So there.

This town ain't big, this town ain't small.
It's a little of both they say.
Our ball club may be minor league but at least it's triple A.
We sit below the Marlboro man, above the right field wall.
We do the wave all by ourself.
Hang off, a blind man could've made that call.

Chorus
We like beer flat as can be.
We like our dogs with mustard and relish.
We got a great pitcher what's his name.
Well we can't even spell it.
We don't worry about the planet much.
We just like to see the boys hit it deep.
There's nothing like the view from the cheap seats.

The game was close, we'll call it a win.
Go off to toast the boys again.
That local band is back in town.
They got a kinda minor league sound.
They're not that bad, they're not that good.
But all in all it's understood.
We wanna dance, they wanna play.
We wouldn't have it any other way.

Chorus
Cheap seats

Now the majors called up oh what's his name.
And one more buildin' rises come.
And suddenly we're all grown up.
And this old town not quite so small.
But I'll always miss the middle size town.
In the middle of the middle-west.
With no name pitchers and local bands,
and mustard and relish and all the rest.

Chorus
Cheap seats

Well, my best friend and I are looking at apartments. It's occurred to me that I need furniture.... I need a bed, some drawers, a table... loads of stuff. So I guess instead of wanting a computer now I'll be wanting assorted bits of furniture. Makes no sense, does it. And can you believe he wants the bigger bedroom?!?! It's like... woah woah woah. Hells no! I am soo a girl.
I slept all day. And I need to work on my case study, seeing as how it's due this week.

Hm... I found this fortune (like from a fortune cookie) in my wallet. Says "Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think." Kinda deep, huh. Yeah, just seemed appropriate with what's been going on lately. Oh and here's something Florence Nightingale said, "Nursing is an art; and if it is to be made an art, It requires as exclusive devotion, as hard a preparation, As any painter's or sculptor's work; For what is the having to do with dead canvas or cold marble, Compared with having to do with the living body - The temple of God's Spirit? It is one of the true Fine Arts; I had almost said, The finest of Fine Arts." Makes me almost wanna be a nurse for the rest of my life.

Well just another day in the life of Tina. *sigh* Things have kinda gone to hell with someone who I thought was a friend. *shrug* Judging from some of the things he's said, I was way wrong about him anyway.
On a lighter note I may be getting written up again. Apparently my MedSurg teacher thinks that just 'cause I sit in the back of the classroom and cut off my split ends that I'm not listening to her. She's threatening to write me up if I don't start taking notes. Seriously, though. What's up with that? I'm just not a note-taking student. *rolling eyes* If you email me your physical address I'll write you a letter and snail mail it to ya. *grinning*

For some reason or another, I've gotten on this Goo Goo Dolls trip or something. I've been listening to them all day long. And I haven't heard them in forever. Strange, just had a feeling i needed to listen to them. Then I got the idea that I should try and learn to play a few of their songs. Of course, I quickly remembered why I gave up the last time. Any of you that play guitar and like the Goo Goo Dolls know that they come up with some of the craziest tunings and it's nearly impossible to figure 'em out by ear. I got Name down pretty good but thats it. Oh well, guess I'll never make a good cover band member.

Isn't it funny how when a guy is free to do something and a chic is busy, its supposed to be ok. But then when the chic has some free time and the guy has made plans, such as work, the chic gets all upset. Just a funny little thing I've noticed. Anyone else know what I'm talkin about?

I almost got run over comin home from Littlefield today. Some little high school kid pulled out in front of me at an intersection here in town. So, out of my anger, I floored it and flew around him, hit the brakes in front of him and he had to swerve to miss me. So, this pissed him off and he decided he needed to show me just how shitty his car was by floorin it and trying to race me. Hah, wasted the poor little kid. I could see him pounding his steering wheel and his buddy laughing at him in my rearview. It was soooo much fun. :-P

Hey now... I didn't collect a single specimen yesterday. And I'm just gonna leave out what I did do. *sigh* It's really not that great. *asking for more valium* Oh I had a flat tire yesterday when I got out of clinicals. I called almost every guy I know in Lubbock, and a surprising amount of the ones who answered don't have a cross wrench. *sigh* I ended up just hitchhiking home and going to bed. My dad had it fixed for me... but this whole ordeal has made me realize there are some serious issues with my truck. I need a place to put a cross wrench and a spare tire.
Um... about that video... Yeah... supposedly he's gonna post it on his site. *shrug* I dunno.
OK... back to doing my research... *yawn*

Well it's ~ 0430 and I do not wanna be here. I'm incredibly sleepy tonight. *yawn* I'm also crazy hungry, the pain in my shoulder is back, and my sister's peeved 'cause I didn't bring her dinner some 11 hours ago. I'm also sad 'cause it's a really pretty night out and I'm stuck in this building with no windows. *sigh* I sure am tired, though. I know I know I know. I ought to sleep more and I ought to get more rest. *shrug* There's just not enough time in the day, ya know? On the bright side, I did have a surprisingly refreshing nap this afternoon, right before I went home and slept for an awesome 2 hours. *rolling eyes* Bringing the grand total to a remarkable 4 hours in the last 28. Oh wait! I forgot to count the few minutes here that I dosed off for. *whispering* So that makes it what? *thinking* An awesome 4 hours and 3 minutes. grr. Somebody get me some valium. *waiting*

Oh hey! Guess what I did today! *excited* That d00d with low pain tolerance... well, apparently he's into bondage. *blushing* He forced me to tie him up with duct tape and then made me video tape him trying to "escape" after I had "seduced" him. *rolling eyes* I dunno guys... seems the more time I spend in Lubbock the weirder things get. I guess being in the middle of the Bible Belt doesn't mean too much.
Yeah... since there was no popsicle involved we all know that there was no seduction involved. *giggling* In case you don't really know me that bit right above this is not exactly true. He's not even Christian.

Speaking of people with low pain tolerances, anyone have any ideas as to how I can get rid of a chronic headache? It's for a friend of mine who just isn't any fun since he's always sour 'cause of that headache...
I've recently been given another Bible. Apparently I'm to use it to pray for a boyfriend. *sigh* I thought that was kinda harsh.
I've been trying to watch Pulp Fiction for aaaaages now, and Rambo too. I dunno, though. With all that's always coming up seems like it's just not meant to be.

I don't believe you used superglue.
Oh, you wanna know something I think is cool about band aids? If you take a bandaid and go into a dark room, when you open the band aid it'll glow. Apparently the glue they use in the band aid packages is sensitive to oxygen. When it comes in contact with air it'll go through a chemical change and light up for a fraction of a second. Don't blink or you'll miss it!
Wanna play Trivial Pursuit?

man, i think i'm a hemopheliac. today at work i scratched the back of my hand on a highchair. the cut was so small you could hardly see it. but i bled profusely for like an hour. it sucked. and we were outta band-aids in the first aid kit, so I had to super glue it shut, TWICE! the first time it just swelled up with blood till it burst!
